每兩年評選一次全美國最好的高中, 標準是學生選修Advanced Placement (AP) 和International Baccalaureate (IB)的平均數(shù)量. 他們只評選公開招生的中學, 所以美國最有名的幾所高中, 如紐約的Stuyvesant高中(畢業(yè)生SAT平均分在1400左右!)不在其列. 很多私立學校也沒別列入, 因為它們不肯偷露考試分數(shù).最后無論具體排名多少, 這1000所高中都屬于全國top 4%.
