Basic Information We all like money—but some of us are better at handling it than others. If you’re one of those people who has a knack for turning one dollar into two, you might want to pursue graduate work in Finance. A graduate program in Finance will lead you all over the financial map—from economics to investments, from corporate finance to financial statement analysis. You’ll learn about risk management, how to manage a stock portfolio, and the world of futures and options. You’ll study financial theory, and the principles of both micro- and macroeconomics. You’ll learn basic financial modeling skills using programs like Excel, eventually progressing to more complex programs used by industry professionals. Your studies in Finance will help you become knowledgeable about things like income taxes, market structures, and pensions. You’ll learn about debt and credit, and how to read and create financial statements. You’ll learn about the world of business—mergers and acquisitions, dividend policies, and modern market trends.
